Ropers In Charmouth
Charles ROPER appears to have moved from Chideock to Charmouth in 1754. His second child, William, was born in Chideock but baptised in Charmouth. In 1751, he had married Elizabeth BILLETT in Stanton St.Gabriel. As the mother of later children was given as Mary, it is possible that he re-married. He was probably a carpenter. The family remained in Charmouth till at least 1832. Families with whom they intermarries included BILLET(T), UDAL, COOK, ANDREWS, LEGG and FREETHE. I would be happy to exchange information with anyone researching an of these names.
