red mail Gunn family Tiverton
I am researching George Gunn, my G.G. Grandfather. I know from the 1841 census that he was living at Quirk Hill Tiverton with his parents William and Mary. He later married a Jane. I am trying to find his birth and marriage details. I found them later living in Monmouthshire. Is anyone else searching for the Gunn family, and has details of George?
red mail Land family, Tiverton area
I have some information on a John Land who was born in Tiverton during 1784 and married a Grace Brice in Tiverton on 13 June 1805. However, its very hard to obtain data on his ancestors. I think his father is a William Land, born in Tiverton in 1741, who married a Sarah Craze in 1769 and who had 6+ children. William's father is a John Land, born circa 1711 and its likely that William's grandfather was a James Land. Can anyone help supply information on any of these Land's, especially the latter John Land and/or James Land please?
red mail PUTT family - Tiverton,Devon area
I would like to connect with any Putt's out there that might be connected to the branch I am investigating. JOHN PUTT, B: 1840's, Bickley (?) Devon married JANE GRANT (B: Abt. 1841) on, what I do believe to be correct, May 29, 1871 in Tiverton. They left England in the early 1880's and eventually came to Canada. By 1891, Jane is recorded on the Ontario census as a widow and residing in Kent County. I believe, but not certain, that John's parents were WILLIAM PUTT & MARIA CANN, William possibly being the son of WILLIAM PUTT & DOROTHY GREENSLADE. Hopefully, I have not gone astray and am, in fact, following the correct PUTT family line. I have been able to complete the branches of John and Jane's children in Canada and the US but have not, as yet, been able to determine the proper Putt line in England. If you have any connection to any of these family branches, I would like to hear from you.

Idon't know whanything about her parents but she was apparently brought up by a Madame Peard of Tiverton a rich relation who was "Proud and bigotted against dissenters". This was unfortunate as Dorothy married one - Samuel Hodges, a tanner from Dalwood near Axminster in 1769 at Tiverton. Dorothy does not seem to have been the most charming of women but is reported to have been " crabbed tempered and was separated from her husband" Her daughter Mary Peard Hodges was born in the year of her marriage and was a very different character, a little Quaker lady who used to sneak down before breakfast to put silver sixpences in her grandchildren's mugs before the milk waspoured. Dorothy is reputed to have been descended from Oliver Peard on of the "Ejected Ministers"

Anyone researching either of these families I would like to hear from you. Also same families again in Barnstaple. Thanks

I have ancestors from Tiverton by the name of ROOKS. I would be interested in hearing from anybody else with ROOKS ancestors, or even the ROOKS still living in Tiverton today.
