red mail Lakey and Mudge families of Plympton
Searching for direct descendents of the Lakey and Mudge families of Plympton DEVON. A bit of information on Great-Grandmother Annie Lakey: she was born 26th May 1864 at Plympton St Mary DEVON England; was not registered at birth; daughter of Francis Lakey and Mary Roberts Mudge (both parents died in 1869). There were 8 children and the 3 youngest William, Annie and Fanny were placed in an orphan home in Gloucester. Lucky my cousin Michael found them in the 1881 census. So I contacted the home and was lucky to get their information, including copy of certificates, also a hand-written statement that said when Annie was born and where and was witnessed by her Grandmother. I was so excited about what the home gave me. Cost me nothing. So made a donation to them. Annie came to Australia on the "Almora" with her married sister Mary Jane Dyer on 24th June 1883, met David Allan, married on 19th July 1884 in St Lawrence QUEENSLAND. Annie died in 1940 at St Lawrence. Would like to contact anyone with Lakey or Mudge ancestors connected to Plympton.
red mail Annie Allan b Plympton d Queensland 1940
Searching for relatives of Annie who migrated to Queensland, AUSTRALIA. Here is an extract from her obit from 1940: "THE LATE MRS ANNIE ALLAN. On Easter Saturday Mrs Annie Allan, relict of the late David Allan, and an old and highly esteemed resident, was buried in the St Lawrence Cemetery. The deceased lady had been ill for a long time and the end was not unexpected. She was almost 76 years of age and had spent nearly sixty years of her life in St Lawrence. Born at Plypton, Devon, she migrated to Australia in 1882. Landing in Rockhampton, she secured a position on Collaroy Station at that time owned by the late C H Paine. Later she was employed in St Lawrence and on July 19, 1883, married David Allan, who also came from the Old Country about the same time as deceased, but not on the same boat. Her husband predeceased her by five years. ... " Anyone with info related to this emigrant who was born in Plympton DEVON would be much appreciated by Annie's great-granddaughter.
