Harris Hancock
I am researching the William Richard Harris family. William, born 1845 in Dawlish was the eldest son of John (1844-1899) and Mary Ann Harris nee Sercombe. William married Sarah Hancock in 1869 and they had at least seven children, Eva, Ernest, Amy, Edith, William, Leonard and Minnie. In the 1881 census he was living at 3 Alexandra Place Starcross with his wife and his brother Albert Harris. His occupation was shown as bootmaker, In the 1891 census he was an assistant Superintendant in the Prudential Insurance Company living with his wife Sarah at 3 Aylsbury Terrace Withycombe Raleigh Exmouth. In the 1901 census he was an agent for the Prudential Insurance Company living at Lawrence Road Portsmouth. In the 1911 census he was a Prudential Assurance Agent living with his wife Sarah at 46 Bath Road Southsea Hampshire. Any information on the family will be appreciated. Allen

Richard Pinn, Clockmaker
Richard Pinn is listed in Pigot's Directory of 1830 as a clock and watchmaker in Fore Street. He married Jane Bayley in September 1797 and they had three children, Henry, Mary and Eliza. Richard died in 1834. Does anyone have any information on this family or on the clocks and watches Richard made.

Can anyone help with social history for the above, Edward married Mary Robina Rowe in 1916 in Exeter, I understand he worked at Millers garage in Exmouth for quite a while, he was invalided out of the Medical Corps shortly before he married, there was also talk of him driving ambulances to assist with repatriation of British forces from France after the war. I would be grateful if anyone could fill in some blanks for me. Many Thanks Paul

Most of Jane's childhood was spent with her mother and siblings in Exmouth. She married her first husband, shoemaker, George Ingersent PIDGEON in 1869. In 1871 she was living at home with her mother but her husband was lodging in Bristol. In May 1872 he bigamously married Margaret HEANEY and later they emigtated to America. Jane PIDGEON (nee HALL) married Henry John FLANAGAN in 1879 at Withycombe Raleigh. At marriage he was described as an engineer, son of Charles FLANAGAN, mariner. Does anyone know what happened to Jane. Did she have any children? Interestingly her mother ELIZA JANE HALL also seem to disappear from Exmouth at about this time.

I am trying to locate more information on Ann Letton born 1769 in Exmouth. Married Edward Hopping in 1788 and served on the H.M.S. Orion with her husband. She supposedly left a written diary of her time at sea as a seamstress and powder monkey. Does anyone know anything about this? Or can give me any more information on this lady, who is my gggggg grandmother?
