red mail William Tozer born 1768, near St Thomas the Apostle, Exeter
William Tozer born about 1768, St Thomas the Apostle, Exeter On his wedding certificate in 1791, William gave his parish as St Thomas the Apostle, Exeter. However, records from St Thomas reveal only two children called William Tozer, (one in 1768 and an earlier child), who were both born to Henry Tozer and wife Elizabeth. Unfortunately, both died as infants. My 4G grandfather, William Tozer, may have been born in a village some miles from St Thomas and moved there later. I am hoping that someone may have seen a birth record for a William Tozer in a nearby parish in or about 1768

Robert's ocupation was an Engine Fitter. Their daughter Rebecca was at 165 Fore St., St. David working for Henry May a Toy Dealer. Between 1871 and 1879 the family moved to 72 Holloway St., Holy Trinity. In 1875 Rebecca came to Australia and in 1879 Samuel married Lucy Davey. Something appears to have happened to Robert Harris around this time to prevent him earning an income and supporting his wife (possibly institutionalised?) as in 1881 Betsy Harris is a boarding house keeper at 72 Holloway St. She claims to be still married. red mail Henry Seymour, Catherine Standish
My great-grandfather, Henry Seymour, states that he was born in Exeter (c 1836) in all the census from 1871 onwards. In these he was living in Liverpool. He was variously a mariner and a rigger. Hoewever I cannot find him in the 1841, '51, or '61 censuses. I can accept that he was at sea in 1861, and maybe even in 1851, but where was he in 1841 at the age of 5 or thereabouts? Henry married Catherine Standish in Liverpool in 1862. She was the daughter of William Standish (b c1811 in Wigan) and Elizabeth (b c1809 Wigan). Catherine and her brother Thomas were born in Salford according to the 1851 census. This, however, is the only sighting I have of her family
