GERTIE & SONNY
Does anyone have any information regarding a lady called GERTIE. I'm afraid I don't have a surname. She had a brother 'SONNY' who worked as a depot manager at Hitchman's Dairies in Leyton, East London. I believe that GERTIE also lived in the Leyton/Leytonstone area. GERTIE worked as a cleaner in the ladies toilets on Liverpool Street main line station in London, during the 1960's. GERTIE was born on 3/3/1889 & died in 1976. (Added: It appears I may have the wrong DOB & DOD for GERTIE. So, if you knew anyone fitting the description of this lady (with different DOB & DOD!).....please let me know.) I know that GERTIE had family in the COMBE MARTIN area, 2 daughters & a son, I believe. I'm also pretty sure that a new baby has been born recently to one of her grandchildren. If anyone thinks they could remember GERTIE or her brother, I have some photos of them I would gladly forward for identification.
David George Blackmore
I am trying to trace the marriage of David George Blackmore born in Swansea, Glamorgan on March 6th 1880 and died in Hereford in 1962. This branch of the Blackmore Family are from Combe Martin, Devon and lived there for most of the 18th and 19th Century. The only information I have is hearsay, but his wife's maiden name was supposedly Hankins or Hancock and they had two children and lived in Simonsbath, Somerset, and he served in The Royal Welsh Fusiliers during the 1st World War and lived for the latter part of his life in Hereford. Did he marry when young or later in life?. If anybody has any information about Uncle Dave, his great nephews and myself would be most grateful.
