I am trying to find details of the Patten family from Appledore in the late 1790s. Looking particularly for a Ann Maria Patten born about 1790.

George Edward Staines 1867 seems to have come in with the tide to Appledore to marry a local lass in 1892. His entry in the 1871 census said he came from Loundon, (possibly London), but after that census for 1881 say Bude! Have you lost a sailor, possibly a lad that ran away to sea.
