My Sherlock family are shown as coming from Alport in Youlgreave Parish Registers between 1739 & 1755. I am trying to find records of the birth of my earliest relative Job Sherlock who married Jane Milnes on 26th September 1736 in Youlgreave. Their children are shown as being born in Alport. In Paricular one son John Sherlock married Jane Oldfield in January 1774 & both died in 1794 Alport & were buried in Youlgreave.

He was born in Derby area Oct-Dec 1932 to Arthur Jackson and Hannah Proudlove who had run the sweetshop in Alvaston Street, Alvaston from around 1931-1938. He was last seen by his sister Mabel in Tunstall, Stoke on Trent around 1939. I believe that Arthur Henry's father's family came from the Alvaston area.

Both sets of my grandparents came from Apperknowle George Monk (1888-1968) married fanny hardwick(1891-1978)in 1910.I have information regarding the Monk ancestors tracing back to Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire from about 1760's butmore recent history regarding g uncles' Marshall Monk who is thought to have been the publican of the Angel Pub Eckington, or George Henry said to have emigrated to Australia. Desperately trying to get through a brick wall. Trying to find information on my Grandfather, Austin Hardy. Born 7.8.1885., in Ashover, Derbyshire. He married a Betsey Whitehead in Bolton, 7.4.1906. They later moved to Liverpool with their 3 sons,William Henry Austin (Harry), John Stanley Newton, and Authur Leslie Melville Hardy. We can find no trace or death of AUSTIN after 1919. I am trying to race a Joseph HIND born 1815, and married an Emily Fowler in 1845. He had 5 children to Emily, Thomas 1845, Mary Jane 1847, Susan 1849, Annie 1851 and finally Joseph Taylor Hind in 1852. Joseph Snr departed England in 1852, arriving in Victoria at the height of the goldrush also in 1852. Family history says "he must have died," as he never returned. Emily eventually remarried a Samuel Davy. I can find no trace of Joseph Snr once he arrived in Australia. Can anyone help ?

Looking for information on the Fletcher family who lived in 2 Marsden Row, Bamford from (c) 1863 and were still there in the 1901 Census. George Fletcher born 1837 in Froggatt married Sarah Hodgkinson born Hathersage 1833. Lived in Bamford from about 1863 with children, Winifred, John, Sarah and Mary and stepson, Frederick. In 1891, Sarah living with daughters Sarah and Mary. Son, John a Groom at Derwent Hall. In 1901 Sarah now 69 living with daughter Sarah (Twigg) and son Ernest Twigg (8). John now a Coachman at Derwent Hall. Mary now married to George Bagshaw and living in Hathersage.

I am looking for the ancestors of George Wainwright who was born about 1806. The 1851 census gives his birthplace as Bamford but in later censuses he says he was born in Longsight, Lancashire. From this, I deduce that he may not actually have been born in Bamford but may have lived there or had family there. There are several Wainwright families in the Bamford/Hathersage area but I have been unable to find a birth/christening record there or in Manchester for him. George married Mary Turner around 1830 (no marriage record found) who came from Ranskill in Nottinghamshire and they subsequently lived in Birmingham and Sheffield where George was a brass fender maker. They had 11 children, of whom 4 died in childhood. Thankyou.

I am interested in tracing the father of John Millington bpt 25/08/1799 at Great Barlow. IGI has his mother as a Mary Lea but there is no father. At around the same time there were several other Millington children bpt'd showing their father as Thomas Millington. These children included Thomas Millington Bpt 16/11/1794, Betty bpt 22/03/1800, Sarah Bpt 14/05/1909 and Hannah Bpt 01/03/1812. Unfortunately no mother was shown for these.

My great great Grandfather was William Derbyshire of Biggin Moor, who, in 1823, married Ann Lovett(born Middleton-by-Youlgreave, Derbyshire, around 1800). I am unable to find any information about William Derbyshire, who seems to have died or disappeared before the 1841 Census - can anybody help? His eldest son, John Derbyshire (born 1827) is buried in St. Thomas' churchyard, Biggin. John farmed at Biggin Moor and his son William was landlord of the Waterloo Inn, Biggin on the 1901 Census.

Also another photo, showing the line up of a dance concert which would have taken place early 50s, by the dance class that met in the upper room of The Chequers. Also a few photos of school outings. There was a shop on Duke Street,Burbage which in Bulmer's History and Directory of Derbyshire 1895 was run by one T.B.Wilde. This is where my grand mother worked as a girl about 1907. I was hoping that some old photos might still exist of that area of Burbage. As well anything at all about the Buxton College where in 1924 another Mr W.T.Wilde who was the son of the shop keeper was a Master at the Buxton College and Secretary/Treasurer of "The Buxtonian" which was the school's magazine.

I am DECENDENT OF Thomas Longden born at calow Feb 1794 He married Anne Lowe in 1815 at St Mary All Saints Church Chesterfield. My Great-Great-Grandfather Herbert Longden was born at Hady in AUGUST OF 1837 and baptized on 27 August 1837. Herbert had 8 brothers and we have located most of the families throughtout Derbyshire and york Counties. I am interested in Locating the parents of the Above Anne Lowe the 1851 Cenus she said she was born at Calow. Does any one know about the Lowes of Calow.
