My paternal grandfather David was born in Youlgreave to George Whitfield Cooke and Hannah Evans. Georges father was David cooke born in 1821 who married Hannah Shimwell(farmers daughter) from Alport born 1821 married 28/2/1852 in Youlgreave church.They were grocers /shopkeepers at "Town End" Youlgreave.This is some of what I've pieced together so far. Have gone back to James Cooke born 1778 Would love to hear from anyone who has any connection with/information about these families.

There is a plaque on the floor of All Saints church for Edward Terry, died 1792 aged 67 (born about 1725). Can anyone help me with this person? He married Martha Foxlow of Youlgreave in 1757. I am searching for his birth or christening some time in the 1720s. I think the most likely counties are Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire or Warwickshire but I'm happy to be proved wrong.
Looking for information on the HALLOWS family who were in YOULGREAVE, the 15 and 1600s. I'm back to a FRANCIS HALLOWS born sometime between 1572 and 1577. Think that his parents are HUMPHREY HALLOWS and CLEMENS COATS but have no surety or details of them. Anyone able to help please?

My Sherlock family are shown as coming from Alport in Youlgreave Parish Registers between 1739 & 1755. I am trying to find records of the birth of my earliest relative Job Sherlock who married Jane Milnes on 26th September 1736 in Youlgreave. Their children are shown as being born in Alport & baptised in Youlgreave. In Paricular one son John Sherlock married Jane Oldfield in January 1774 & both died in 1794 Alport & were buried in Youlgreave.

Looking for descendants of George Evans b 1833 in Youlgreave parents were Thomas and Mary Evans nee Newton. Married Hannah Cook Feb 1856 Children Emma 1856 and Harriet b1864, Hannah died 1865 and George remarried to Elizabeth Austin 1866 their children were Thomas b 1869(my grandfather) George W 1873 Hannah 1875 Mary 1879 Harry 1880 Annetta 1882, by 1873 they had moved to Manchester but when George died in 1889 he was buried in Youlgreave in the same grave as his 1st wife.
