red mail Bownes / Bowns in Matlock – 1500s-1600s
Hello, I'm stuck with research into my Bowne family in Matlock Derbyshire and I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help. I've got back as far as Ralph Bowne who married Lucy somewhere around 1670-80. They had four daughters Hannah, Susanna, Ruammah (who married Anthony Flint in Wirksworth in 1700) and Lydia. Can anyone help me out with the parents of Ralph and Lucy – or any other information about the Bownes – I think they may be descended from the Bownes who owned Lime Tree Farm in the early 1600s. Many thanks Claire
red mail James Turner
I am searching for a James Turner who hails from the Matlock area perhaps Lumsdale. His D.O.B. would be about 1790. I have no idea who his wife was but think he had at least 6 children, George, James, John, Mary, William and Emma. Emma being my Great Great Grandmother. In the 1841 census his children were living in Lumsdale with the eldest 3 working in the bleach works.
Bannisters
I am searching for descendants of Frederick George Bannister and Mary Ellen (Boden) who kept the Gate Inn Smedley Street in 1916. I know they had a son Stanley Boden Bannister Born 1909. Frederick George Bannister also had sisters Mabel, Evelyn and Ethel May. They were all born in Derby to Frederick Bannister and Sarah.Would love to get some information. Happy to share what I have. red mail George Ward - Matlock
We live on Wellington Street, Matlock and in 1898 our house was left by George Ward to his son Samuel Orlando Ward. George Ward also was the landlord of the Duke of Wellington PH. I believe a row of houses called Wayside Cottages on Wellington Street were owned by the Ward family from around 1749 untill the 1950's. Can anyone give me information on the Ward's between these dates including houses they built and owned
Hurd
Looking for any information on one Robert Daniel Hurd. Married in Lincoln to a Sara Ann Gostelow (not sure if this is surname or not!) but ended up living at Portland Grange Matlock Bank. Some books say this was in Tansley or even Matlock Bath.
