red mail William Williams - (Llandegla - Denbighshire)
Hello I'm trying to find out who the parents were of William Williams, who according to the 1841/51/61 England census was born in Llandegla in 1808. The Parish records don't help. Has anyone got Llandegla School admissions for around that date? Or any other information that might help? He ended up as a hairdresser in Gravel Lane then Harp Alley in London. I have lots of information about him post 1828, but need to find his early history. Thanks in advance.

Sheep Counting - (Llannefydd, Llanefydd - Denbighshire)
I am trying to track down the version of sheep counting as given to me in Llannefydd some 25 years ago (by Isaac, Tan Y Cregiau, Rhyd Tan Y Cae?). It was similar to that used in Lincolnshire for counting sheep and knitting stitches. Yan - tan - tethara - pethera- pimp (5) yan a dik, tan a dik....bumpit (15) yan a bumpit.. figitt (20). The Cumbrians claim a similar version for their own, it is also used in Yorkshire. I'd like to find the local version so I can compare. The theory is that its use in the East of Britain is a remnant of the Celtic language once spoken there, but most references I have found do not mention it being used in Wales at all.
