red mail John Clifford Hallam or Hallum
John Clifford Hallam or Hallum's death certificate states that he was born in "Mitchell Town", (Mitchelstown) County Cork, Ireland in 1811 but he doesn't seem to come up in any Irish records. He emigrated to Tasmania, Australia in 1841(we think it was),where he was married in 1847 to Mary Graham (also of Co Cork - Newmarket. He died 1885 in Victoria, Australia. If anyone has any information regarding this very hard to find man, it would be very much appreciated.
red mail John Montgomery - Mary Sullivan
I do have a Mary Sullivan One relative thinks that it is O'Sullivan. I do have a baptismal certificate information for three children William (1823), Edward (1827), and John (1829) that lists their parents as Mary Sullivan (b. 1783, Mitchelstown and d. 1863 Burke, Franklin, New York) and John Montgomery (b. 1787, Mitchelstown and d. 1867 Burke). John was of the Anglo-Norman family which, until recent years, lived at and owned "Killee", a large and landed estate near Mitchelstown. Francis X. Coughlin talked with William Collis Montgomery in October 1956, he was the last family member to hold "Killee" and since releasing the estate has resided with his sister, Elane and niece, Elizabeth Fell, at Ballindenisk, Watergrass hill, Co. Cork, Ireland - where show horses are raised. As of 1994, Robert Fell and his wife Joyce operate the horse farm at Watergrass hill. His aunt, Grace Alice Montgomery ( single ), owned a country home near Fermony, Co. Cork, Ireland. She informed Francis X. Coughlin that Field Marshall Montgomery is a distant relative. John Montgomery (most likely) came from a wealthy family who owned a 1,000 acre estate called Kallee near Mitchelstown. The family there are... The estate has been divided and part of it is a hunting lodge owned by the Duke of Devonshire. The Montgomery's there took him all over the county and showed him sites. However, the Montgomery's there who are Church of Ireland have no record of him. He married a Roman Catholic, Mary O'Sullivan, they figure that he was disowned. And provides a good explanation of why he emigrated.
