red mail Paterson
I am loking for information on my Grandmother's family from Alloa. My Grandmother (born 1918) was adopted at an early age. Her parents were William Letters (not local) and Joan Paterson. Joan was one of 3 daughters born to Andrew Paterson (born c.1866) and Joan Love (born c.1867). i can not trace any record of births for any of the daughters. I have come across a record of marriage for Andrew and Joan. They were married in Alloa in November 1888. Joan's parents were Francis Love and Marjory Hunter, but I can find no further information regarding Andrew Paterson. As far as I am aware, young Joan died following a fire at her sister's home. This occured after my grandmother had been put into care (possibly a church orphanage). One sister (unsure of first name) married a Beattie, the other sister, Marjory, never married. I believe Joan was the only sister to have had any children, which was my grandmother (only child). Any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks x

Amelia and Euphemia Flockhart
My 3g grandmother Euphemia Flockhart, born in Alloa abt 1777, moved to Stranraer, Wigtownshire, where she married Hugh Atkins (or Aitken) in 1803. Amelia Flockhart, b. Alloa 1760, moved to Kirkcudbright, where she married John Sloan in 1790. Would like to establish the relationship between these 2 women (since I can find no other Flockharts in S.W. Scotland around this time, and since both were born in Alloa, I'm sure there is one). Amelia's parents were Amelia Philp and David Flockhart; I have no birth reg for Euphemia but death reg gives her father's name as David, so they could have been half sisters or aunt and niece (since Amelia's oldest brother was another David). Am also puzzled as to why they both moved to southwest Scotland. My best guess is that Euphemia was Amelia's illegitimate daughter, and that they had to leave Alloa for that reason. Does anyone have any suggestions?
