I'm looking for the origins of George Davies, my grandfather, working at Massey Feeds, Cranage, Cheshire at the time of his wedding on 16th. Feb. 1909. He married Harriett Maud Wood at the age of 24 and is recorded in his marriage certificate as a Miller. His father's name was also George, a Foreman and not recorded as deceased. My grandfather died on 21st. Jan. 1948, age 63 and is buried with his wife in the cemetery opposite the cottage where they lived in Cranage. Witnesses at his wedding were John William and Annie Simpson. Annie was George's sister and they were married on 29th. Feb. 1907 - Annie was 21 at the time and her father was a Warehouseman, also not recorded as deceased. The only references I can find of Annie and George are as follows. The 1891 Census records Annie, 4, born in Davenham, Northwich, Cheshire in Sept. 1886. George, 7, born in Peplow, Shropshire in March 1884. Both living as step children, with William Berry (William married Sarah Ellen Davies at St. Helen's Witton, Northwich in Dec. 1888) and are recorded as living at 22, Verdin St., Witton, Northwich. The 1901 Census now records William Berry as a widower (Sarah Ellen died in Northwich in Dec. 1899). Also living with were his sons, William, 11, James, 8, George, 2 and Amy Davies, 18, recorded as William's step daughter, born in Manchester in 1883. The 1891 Census records Amy as the daughter of Thomas and Mary Davies, born in Manchester in 1883. William's other sons were all born in Northwich and the family were recorded as still living at 22, Verdin St. Witton. An Annie Davies, age 14, is recorded as a Domestic Servant for Arthur H. Smith, Insurance Clerk and his wife, Marie, at Stockport Road, Altricham, Cheshire. I can't find any records of my grandfather, George Davies that I can link back to Annie or Sarah Ellen in the 1901 Census. I do have a photo of my grandfather in WW1 Army uniform, taken as a group photo with officers, sergeants corporals and privates, however I have no idea of the location or regiment I would also like to find out more about my great grandfather, George.

red mail Hullock - Ullocks of Grange - (Grange - Cheshire)
I am researching my family who came from Lancashire, Cumbria, Cumberland and Westmorland. The definite links I have are Richard Hughlock b 12-8-1805 at Grange, Baptised 1-9-1805 of 292 Eaves Lane Chorley Lancashire. I believe he was illegitimate and his mother was Sarah (Hullock) Ullock born in Coniston in 1765 baptised 16-12-1765 in Coniston. As far as I am able to ascertain she never married and ended up at Salmesbury Bottoms work house. I further believe Sarah (Hullock) Ullock had other children as follows Mary Ullock 16-11-1787 Carmel Grange Parish, Baptised 18-12-1787 Cartmel, James (Hullock) Ullock 26-2-1793 Cartmel baptised 24-3- 1793 Grange St Mary Carmel married a Deborah ? b Longridge 1791, buried 13-6- 1854 St Paul's Preston marriage date 22-12-1863 St Peters Chorley, Atkinson (Hullock) Ullock 19-3-1797 Cartmel Grange Parish baptised 23-4- 1797 Cartmel married Isabell (Bella) Miller 27-11-1818 St John Preston, Mathew (Hullock) Ullock 21-10- 1801 mother from Cark ?baptised 16-11- 1801 Cartmel registers, buried 22-10- 1802. Sarah (Hullock) Ullock could have been the daughter of :- a) James Hullock b 1731 Cawton and Sarah Warriner married 10-6-1753 Broughton in Furness b) Serjeant Sargent Ullock I have various spellings for the name from Holock, Hullock, Hewlock, Yewlock, Hughlock, and many others depending on the dialect and the scribes interpretation of the spelling. It seems most likely that the family started life in the place named ULLOCK. Can anyone assist me by pointing me in the correct direction to form my next link. many thanks David

red mail John Jones and Mary Wilson - (Great Sutton - Cheshire)
I am trying to find who John Jones' father was. He married on 9th Feb. 1778 in Wallasey and settled as a yoeman farmer in Great Sutton. We have traced and connected our ancestory back this far, also thanks to excellent reseach by the Stanley family, but cannot find his (or her) parents in the Cheshire web records. I think that it may have been a William Jones as one of their sons was a William Wilson Jones, in which case maybe this relates to the William Jones who married Anne Griffith's on 17th Oct 1734 in Dodleston (which seems geographically feasible), but the alternative is a Thomas Jones of Overton whose ancestory can be traced back to 1640 via another several other Thomas Jones'. Can anyone help? I fancy that it's the William....in which case who was his father?? With many thanks.

Later she emigrated to Maple Ridge BC, Canada and became a nurse. Married Ted Janssen in Abbotsford, BC, Canada in the early 1960's. She was my step-brothers' mother.
