Hello, A relative of mine named Delia Rose died at 16 Meadow Lane in Tranmere in 1916. I wonder if anyone has any information about this street - any old pictures, information or even information about the street today. Is this where the local football side play?

I believe the RIGNEY family were from KINGS CO...now CO OFFLAY, IRELAND.They have as far as I know 2 brothers JAMES RIGNEY and WILLIAM RIGNEY. Also looking for BOWE...my Gt Grandma MARY BOWE was born to a Family from Co TIPPERARY IRELAND. Other BOWE names are WILLIAM, MARGARET,JAMES,EDWARD,JOHN,ELLEN,BRIDGET,GEORGE and MICHEAL.All the BOWE family lived in CLONMEL and CAHIR CO TIPPERARY came to LIVERPOOL in late 1850s Also looking for ELIZABETH COSTELLO. Born IRELAND 1863/65. Her father EDWARD was a joiner. She came to UK and married JOHN MCMANUS of BIRKENHEAD.late 1890s Any help would be so much appreciated. Thank you.

John Stewart was a Customs officer who lived in Tranmere from 1841-1901. He married Louisa Jones in 1838. Both John and Louisa are buried in Bebeington. Between 1940 and 1860 the follwing children were born: John Mary Charles William James Edward Hugh Ellen Ann/Jane Isabella. Any further info welcome. Seeking information for my family tree on Mabel Alice Cross, nee Jackson. Mabel was born in Little Sutton, married Richard Ashton Cross some times Richard Assheton Cross in 1911. Census for 1911 shows Mabel residing at 26 Elmswood Road,Tranmere. I cant tell if it says higher or lower Tranmere, with her husband and son also Richard Assheton Cross 3 months old. Mabel was sister to my grandmother.

I have details of my Geraghty relatives living in the tranmere, Birkenhead area - moved from Leeds on 1901 census living in Leeds, in 1902, my great grandmother Annie Towers (b.1893) Married James Geraghty (b.1880)at Our Lady & St Nicholas & St Anne, Liverpool. 1n 1915 lived at 37 Mollington street, in 1939 lived at 26 Delta rd, just a couple of houses away from the Oakley family - Annie and James daughter Ivy married Eric Oakley, son of Gertrude Foulkes (b 1890) and John Samuel Oakley (b. 1896) Any information would be greatfully recieved - happy to share any information I have.

I am looking for info in researching the Green family tree. In 1881 the family, headed by George Green (born Aigburth Lancs. about 1844)and wife Mary E(born 1851 Wales) lived at 5 Duke St Tranmere. Their children were: John(1867),Joseph(1869) George(my grandfather 1874-1930), William(1876), Robert(1877), Charles(1879), Ebernezer(1881), Joseph(1885)and David(1886). In 1891 were living in Foundry St Warrington, and 1901 living in Pitt St, Birkenhead (Rock Ferry).

Trying to trace knowledge of great grandfather William Green, a storekeeper, at 22 Rodney Street, Tranmere 26 February 1896 when wife, Jane Singleton Green, died aged 53. Even looking for where she and he might have been buried. A son, Thomas Green, my grandfather, was identified as 9 years old, and living at 1 Jones Street, Birkenhead with the family in 1881 census.

CAPTAIN JOHN LEWIS
was listed as being from Tranmere when his ship the St Cuthbert of the Phoenix Steamship Company sank of Nova Scotia on 7/8 Feb 1908 on route from Antwerp to New Youk. He and his crew (some of them) were rescued by the White Star Line's Cymric on route to Boston. This was the first ship ever to use Marconi's radio wireless to call out for help (SOS). He married my Great Grandma Lizzie Jamison on 7 Oct 1890 in Templepatrick, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland and lived at the family home of Ballymartin House there. Does anyone know anyting about him before that time in Tranmere or in Wales where he was supposedly born. Thanks a lot!

Robert Wynne died in 1884 at the home of his daughter Sarah Spruce nee Wynne and William Spruce. In 1881 their home was No.1 Chapel Place which nowadays no longer in existance. It was close to the Walker Street and Church Road areas in Tranmere any help with burial information on Robert Wynne and the children of Sarah/William would be welcomed. Spruce children were Ralph Spruce and Eleen Spruce. Ralph was still alive in Tranmere in 1901 but after that I am in need of assistance with their circumstances. I live in Australia and would like help from anyone who lives near Tranmere Birkenhead, Liverpool etc. Regards, Tom

Before his marriage he lived at 99 Old Chester Road, Tranmere. Sarah lived at 42 Derby Road,Tranmere. William's father was James Ellison, a publican. Sarah's father, William Miller was a Mariner.
