seeking relatives of COLE William Henry
Looking for relatives of William Henry COLE, engineer/steamfitter, age 33, sailing on the Celtic departing Liverpool 1 Nov 1924, destination Holyoke, Massachusetts. He is a resident of Belfast, but the manifest lists as his nearest relative Mother Mrs. Cole 42, Highfield Rd, "Rook" Ferry, Ches. Eng. His obituary from 1943 lists survivors in England: brother Harold and sister Olive. He was born in Slapton (Devon) on 16 Jul 1892 and is a cousin of Fanny COLE of Slapton. I have leads to census records from 1901 and 1911 but would appreciate pointers to other sources. Thanks!

I am trying to trace my German side of the family. Great grandfather Albert Lapphen was born in Germany around 1858 but settled in England he was in the merchant navy. One of his sons Charles was killed on the Lusitania. His father Albert, mother Alice Featherstone. Children Albert, Charles, Robert, Margaret, Caroline, Emily, Sarah, Helen (Hallan)(my grandmother), Amelia. The surname chagned over the years to Lapphane.

Gores Directory Lancs & Birkenhead 1900 & Kellys' Directory of Cheshire 1902 show the same. Family lived at Fairfield Hotel 292 Old Chester Rd, Rock Ferry.
