Margaret Cottrell - 1875
Margaret Cottrell was my (maternal) Great Grandmother. Born circ 1875, in Neston. I am desperately trying to discover her family pre her marriage in 1905. The factual information I have is taken from her Marriage Cert:- Margaret Cottrell married John Scott Butler on 2nd March 1905 at St. Matthews Church, Stockport. She is 30 at the time of her marriage. Her address is given as Bayerne, Cheadle Road. Margarets Father was Thomas Cottrell, he was deceased at the time of her marriage, his occupation was Farmer. Margaret and John had one son, Thomas Butler,my Grandfather, born 1908 (he died as a result of WW2 injuries in 1945). I know all about Margaret from the time of her marriage, but nothing about her pre the marriage. Other information I have about Margaret, pre the marriage, is as follows:- She had a brother called Robert who was killed in WW1. Margaret spent some time in the Isle of Man pre her marriage.(My mother remembers her talking about it on occassion). Margaret was 'In Domestic Service' pre her marriage. Margaret died in 1962. I would sincerely love to know more about Margarets family, Who her mother was?, any other siblings?, cousins?, etc etc etc... Does anyone out there have any link?... If you do, please don't be shy...hahaha!... I am sat with crossed fingers and toes...and look forward to hearing something positive soon... Lisa.

red mail Any information re: Willaston 'Cottrell' and Neston 'Cross' families
Hi I'm currently researching my family tree on my Mother's side and am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has any connection or any information on the "Cottrell" side of the family. Thomas "Raymond" Cottrell and his wife Elizabeth Emily Cottrell (nee Davies) are my Great Grandparents. At the time of the 1901 census they resided in Willaston (back of Institute) They had four children at that time Arthur (7), Amy (6), Florence (4) baby Ethel (7months) Arthur was killed in action during the Great War (21st August 1918) aged 24. He was an infantryman with the 13th battalion, King's Liverpool Regiment. He is buried at the British Cemetery in the sleepy rural hamlet of Douchy-les-Ayette, in France, close to the Western Front. My Great Grandad Raymond and his wife went on to have a very large family. In 1903, my Grandmother, Nellie Cottrell was born...she later married William (Bill) Cross and they also had a large family. of which my Mum Shirley was one. If anyone has any information to share on either the Cottrell* or Cross families then please get in touch. I would especially appreciate a photo of my Great Uncle Arthur Cottrell who died in WW1 I can be contacted via: Thanks and hope to hear from you.
