Alman or Allman or Halman in Malpas area
Present day name is Halman, mainly market gardeners in the Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Northenden or Stockport areas.. Research suggests that around eighteenth to nineteenth century, i.e. late 1700's to early 1800's there was likely to have been a name change from Alman to Halman or Allman to Alman or Halman. My father-in-law was Leonard Halman who had a market garden at Davenport Green, twixt Wilmslow and Alderley Edge. His daughter is my wife, Jean Mary Halman. I have hit a brick wall in my research!

My great-great-grandfather, Thomas Peate married Mary Roberts and had (as far as I know) three children - my great-grandfather Edward Peate b1851, Thomas b1858 and Sarah b1860. Edward married Elizabeth Price in 1877 and their children were: Thomas b1878, my grandfather Harry b1880, Alfred b1883, Charles b1884, Mary Elizabeth b1890. By the time the children were born Edward had changed the surname Peate to Pate. My grandfather Harry Pate married Rebecca Whitley in 1907. The Peate family origins are in Malpas Cheshire and later, as Pate in the Wrexham area. Any information regarding the Peate family would be most welcome.
