I need some help going back further than my 3x Great Grandparents James TRAINOR,Farmer,(1793-??) and Margaret CLARKE (1795-1839) from the Knockbride/Bailieborough area of Co.Cavan.There were 3 children that I know of, (although there could have been more,)John,(1813-1894),Anthony,(1814-1879), and my 2x Great Grandmother,Anne,(1819-1909),who all emigrated to Australia, arriving in late 1841.Anne and Anthony disembarked at Sydney in Nov.1841,then endured a rough trip overland to Melbourne by bullock dray, meeting up with their brother John who had arrived at Port Phillip in Dec.1841.They all travelled to Kilmore,Victoria, with John later settling in Urana,NSW,and raising a family there.Anne married William McMANUS,(1823-1892), from Ballyjamesduff,Co.Cavan, the son of Patrick McMANUS,Farmer, and Annie "Nancy" ROONEY.He arrived in Sydney in early 1842 and married Anne TRAINOR in 1846 in the Roman Catholic church in Melbourne. They settled at Willowmavin, near Kilmore, Victoria, and raised 5 children-Patrick,Margaret,Mary,Annie and John.I would be very grateful for any information on these families.
red mail John Bernard Lynch 1854-1924
Looking for info regarding my great grandfathers family. John Bernard Lynch immigrated to the US from Ireland in 1880 with his brother, Patrick and his sister, Mary (Normile). His father and mother had such common names, it has been impossible to find more info. They sold the family cow to make the trip. I know his parents were alive for some time after as he asked my grandmother to travel back and visit with them. Sadly, she was terrified of making the ocean voyage. Patrick was lost going to Alaska to look for gold and I've never been able to find Mary Normiles family either. Many Irish have such big families! I wonder whether there were other children. The parish priest was unable to find any info for us.
red mail Carolan - Bailiborough
Carolan family of Baileiborough (Moybologue) included Bernard (Bryan) 1780-ca1860 who married Anne Reilly (1787-1843) Two known children, Patrick, 1807-1883 and Margaret (1811-1876)who married Thomas Rourke in Sydney, Australia. Seeking a) any more siblings of Patrick and Margaret who remained in Ireland, and any siblings of Bernard (Bryan). Bernard (Bryan) was a Ribbonmen. His story, and his Australian descendants, is detailed in the 1998 Book, 'Carlon's Town'.
