Catherine Jane Evans
Catherine was born on 30 May 1879 at 7 William Terrace, Seaside, Llanelly - father Josiah Evans - mother Ann Thomas. She married John Daniel Jenkins of Pontypridd, on 12 October 1910 at Moriah Baptist Chapel, Station Road, Llanelly. They had no children. John Daniel died in March 1953 and Catherine on 2 August 1962 - both at Penrhiw Farm, Llanelly. Catherine had 3 sisters - Elizabeth (Lizzie), Annie and Hilda. Lizzie never married - the other 2 did, but they also had no children. Hilda was the last survivor of the girls and she and her husband Ernest King inherited the farm. Ernest survived his wife and the farm then passed to his family. I would be grateful to know if this farm still exists; if ancestors of Ernest King still live in it or own it. Catherine and John were both cremated in Llanelly but their remains were scattered on Lawn 4 at Glyntaff Cemetery, Pontypridd. There is a memorial plaque to them in the Columbarium at the cemetery. Does anyone know the 'story' behind this? Any information would be very much appreciated.
