red mail Jones family from llanfairfechan
I'm looking for any information that might help in the research of my grandmother's family. Her father was Owen born in 1864, mother was margaret (believed to be nee Evans), born 1865 brother hughie born 1890, brother thomas mark born 1895 and sister Deborah. My grandmother was Ellen Ceridwen born 1899. I can only find them on 1901 and 1911 census, before then i cant find Owen or Margaret. On 1901 census my grandmother is listed as Ellen but on 1911 census only listed as Ceridwen. Ellen moved to Lancashire to work in service, Hughie is believed to have moved to St Helens and was a vicar. I have traced some of Ellens history of her later life but know nothing about the rest of them. Any information would be welcome. Val
red mail Evan Evans
I am searching for information about my grandfather, Evan Evans who was possibly born in 1885. He married Margaret Roberts of Llanfairfechan in 1906. They lived in Llanfairfechan and had 4 children, John, Peter (my father born 1914), Owen and Megan, all of whom are now deceased. My grandfather went to South Wales in the 1920s to seek work. However, he committed bigamy there and was imprisoned! No one ever spoke about this as one can imagine it was a terrible scandal! I would be very grateful for any leads that will help me find any information at all about Evan Evans.
red mail Ellen Thomas/Jones
I am looking for any information about Ellen Thomas b, 1822 in Llanfairfechan who married John Jones (blacksmith) b,1802 in Llanrhos. Ellen and John had 5 children, Elizabeth, b.1849 in Llanfairfechan, John, b.1852, Richard, b.1853, Robert, b.1855 and William, b. 1858 the latter 4 children all being born in Llanrhos. Ellen outlived John as he was 20 years older than her and it may be that she went to live in Bethesda c. 1900+ as i have traced her on the Welsh census until 1901 where it mentions an Ellen Jones as living in Water Street, Bethesda. There are 2 deaths for an Ellen Jones in Bethesda in 1902? Any information of decendants would be appreciated. Thank you!
red mail Alex Davey
Now deceased. DOB 1905 Cardiff. Alex was an organist and came to York and worked at the old Picture House in Coney Street (approx 1925-1930) He met York born Jessie Downey. DOB 1904.They married in Kent in 1930 and they had two daughters (one of whom is my Mother who was born in Islington in 1935) The rest is rather vague as Jessie went to Canada and my Mother was brought up in a Children`s home in Hornchurch, Essex, believing herself to be an orphan. She met her Mother Jessie a couple of times in the 1970`s but she wasn`t given any information from her and she found out Alex had tried to contact her through a relative but that information was not given to her until many years too late (sadly). I have searched many records on-line and recently had a chance meeting with a medium (believe it or not) who told me i had been searching and that he was buried in a Church yard near the sea and the place name began with Llanfair. Obviously only time will tell whether this info is correct but my Mother would love the chance to visit his grave and find out anything about the Father she never knew. For those that believe in psychics, she also said that he was saying he had no say in the fact that she was put into care.
