red mail Radwell Family - (Upper Winchendon - Buckinghamshire)

red mail Bates family - (Water Eaton - Buckinghamshire)
I am related to Philip Bates. His son William was my great-grandfather. He married Sarah (b. 1866), whose father was, I believe, a vicar somewhere near Wantage. William worked on the railway and also played a silver trombone in a local band. We were told as children that he was very tall. My grandfather, Philip John Bates (b. 1897)was brought up by his grandparents, probably in Fenny Stratford. He had a twin called Ada Dora who died relatively young as well as other siblings listed as Mabel, Nellie, Ethel, Basil and Gertrude in the 1891 census. Does anyone have any information, please.

red mail Bates Family - Wooden tool manufacturers - (Waterside - Buckinghamshire)
Looking for all and any information about the Bates family in Waterside, Chesham. Long time residents, the family appeared to have achieved greatest status during the mid 1800s when Robert Oldfield Bates (b. c. 1804) started in shovels and worked his way up. Baptists and apparently teetotallers my interest is in the branch that originated in Robert's brother whom I believe was called John born in about 1806. He seems to have died young and I've little about him. His two boys were raised by Robert from a young age. Anything on the ancestors of these brothers, history of shovel making or descendants extant all welcome.

Could anyone obtain a high quality scan or digital photograph of the Tithe Map of Little Woolstone and Great Woolstone, circa 1848, and the details of who owned which portions, for me please? I think the library at Milton Keynes holds a copy of the map, but I don't know if they also hold the Apportionment data as well, which shows who owned which lot(s) and what they were used for. The Bucks CRO should have both. I am happy to do a search for Census images of 1841-1901 inclusive in exchange if required; just supply the year, the names, approximate birth years, birth place, likely residence place and other expected details. (The more the better with a common name; try to include spouse/parents/children/siblings as applicable, and perhap an occupation to ensure I locate the right household). Many thanks, Heather
