Phil and Lena were interned in Singapore in Changi Gaol during WW2. Lena died in the early1960s, and Phil may have remarried. Their son, Matthew West, appears to have immigrated to Massachusetts colony and then moved to Rhode Island in the early to mid 1600s. Thomas's father is noted to be Richard West.

Their ancestors worked for the Grand Union Canal until the early/mid 20th Century.

Looking for the relatives and decendants of John Bignell born 1811 and his wife Mary b 1810 and who had the following children:- Ann b 1839 Loughton Bucks. Fanny,b 1850 Leighton Buzzard, Sarah b 1842 Leighton Buzzard, William b 1845 in Leighton Buzzard and Thomas (my grandfather) b 1846 and married Eliza Florey b 1849 in Launton nr Bicester Oxford. Thomas was a coachman and lived at the stables market street paddington where my father William Thomas Bignell was born in 1880, the family later moved to Wiltshire thence to Cowley, Oxford and later to Bath. Eliza is buried in Swansea where my father was serving in the swansea police force. Any news of any of the rest of the family will be appreciated. I do have some photos.

He was married to Rebecca Taylor and they had four children, William, Elizabeth, Edith and Ambrose. Ambrose Joseph Dunkley was born 31/05/1872 in Nash but married Annie Maria White at Hampstead Registry office 21/11/1891. I have Reuben's father as Thomas born 18/03/1821 and his taher as John Dunkley B. 1799/1800. I would like to be able to trace this line further backwards.

Grange Duncombe, born Nettleden, 1807, married Anne Hedges at Tring, Herts 21 April 1829. He died Berkamstead, June 1880. Can anyone clarify if Nash and Grange were brothers? Looking for contacts re my great Grandparents John and Harriet Hawes. They lived at Addingrove Farm and also had the Bakery in Oakley and a grocery store. They had 9 sons. My grandfather was the eldest son and joined the Navy aged about 11. He settled in Australia. Harriet died c 1911 and is buried in St Marys Graveyard at Oakley. I have traced my grandmother's family, the WOOD'S back to Thomas Wood. I think he married Elizabeth INNS in 1768 at Thornborough. I am not sure where Thomas Wood came from, he doesn't appear to be a Preston Bissett lad in the IGI, but Elizabeth Inns was born there and her Parents were Richard Inns and Sarah. I have seen Richard's gravestone in the churchyard. I can not get any further back than that. Anyone out there who can help?

My great grandfarther Arthur Allen was born in Ravenstone 1873, his parents were Mary and William Allen, William was a Blacksmith as was his farther George. I can't read mary's maiden name on the certificate, her father George was a labourer. They lived in Shakeshaft Row.

Lucy married James Brown in Farnworth near Prescot, Lancs. in 1833 and lived in Prescot thereafter. They had 9 children. Lucy died in 1880. Lucy's father Henry Trantum died in Prescot in 1839, her mother Hannah, sisters Mary and Elizabeth and other siblings, were all living in the Prescot/ Eccleston area and Hannah lived with her various children after she was widowed. There is no record of his father, but his mother Mary Hill, married William Garner on 1st February 1857 at the Parish Church, Simpson. I have found Thomas Gower married to Mercy Smith 1753 at St Leonards Buckingham Their son was Thomas b.1758, d.1791 who was married to Sarah Pantlin in 1782 in Slapton. Their children were born in Slapton. James b. 1785 , Sarah b. 1788,Thomas b.1791,Mercy b.1792 and Elizabeth b. 1793. Thomas b. 1791 married Sarah Read in 1809 at Edlesborough. Their children were James b.1833, Jane b.1826 and Thomas b.1829 I also have a William Gower born in Slapton in 1811 but am not sure whether he was born to Thomas with Sarah Pantlin or Thomas with Sarah Read - it could be either! I have recently discovered the name Thomas Smart who was born abt 1822 in Turweston. He was the brother of Herodias Smart, my great great grandmother. Thomas married Sarah Taylor in 1845 in Brackley, but she died in 1852. He then married Ann (probably Ann Adams). He lived in Croughton for most of his life, and died in Brackley in 1904.
