red mail Kezia Ray
Kezia(h) was my great great grandmother; she married Richard Stapleton on 28 August 1819 in St Brides, Fleet Street, witnesses being Robert Ray and Martha Ray (relationship not known). I cannot find her and Richard in the 1841 and 1851 census but in 1861 they were living in Paddington and she said she was born in Taplow, Buckinghamshire. She died in 1868 and Richard died in 1875. Their children were George 1821, Eliza 1822, William 1826, Richard 1829 and Henry 1832. Does anyone know who were Kezia's parents, if and where she was baptised, and anything more about her family?
red mail Learmonth & Roberts
Have been looking for Page's Wharf, where Learmonth & Roberts operated a leather manufacturing industry from possibly well before 1840s and then still after the 1860s. Have been sent a link to a map that suggests Page's Wharf may still exist, in Taplow, Maidenhead. Then further looking for the first names of Learmonth & Roberts. Have Thomas Young LEARMONTH in the 1860s, wonder if he was also there a decade or so before, or could it have been his father in charge of the business prior to Thomas? Then I really would like the first name of Mr. ROBERTS, to see if I can connect him to the WALDEN family, in particular, Am(e)y Holborn (Holbourne?) WALDEN, who'd married Joseph WALDEN in 1823... Cheers... Rose
red mail Andrews, Rebecca born c.1811
I know precious little of Rebecca! The 1851 census for Wooburn Green states she was born in Taplow and now aged 40. She's the head of the family, an unmarried needlewoman. She has a son, Richard (Andrews Stannett) aged 11. Richard's birth certificate gives father as Richard Stannett. Rebecca Andrews and Richard Stannett were not married. That's all I know - any info much welcome.
red mail Taplow - Atkins Family
I am seeking information on the Atkins Family who were living at Berry Hill Taplow in the 1861 census. The father's name was Henry and his wife was Elizabeth. At that time there were two sons Henry and Benjamin and three daughters Fanny,Sarah Ann and Mercy.I have some information and a photo to share
red mail RUTLAND
looking for any rutlands in bucks around 1750 - 1900. particularly those related to john rutland and elizabeth woolard.
red mail Addison, Annie
Looking for information about Annie Addison (born in Scotland) who spent her later years as the housekeeper at Cliveden estate (approx. 1900 - 1935). Her mother was Elizabeth or Betsy Tough. As far as I know she never married. She is supposed to have been buried at the Astor family cemetery.
red mail AUSTIN
Hi, I am looking for any info on the Austin family of Taplow, Berks. In particular, Lydia Austin who, on the 1851 was listed as a Beer House Keeper. Her daughter Frances, married a Nathaniel Hawkins of Gloucestershire, who was a Gt.gt.grandfather of mine and I would like to find out more about the Austin side of the family. Frances and Nathaniel were listed as living with Lydia on the 1851 census. thanks
Blackwell, John
John Blackwell, born 1788, emigrated to Tasmania in 1819 as a free settler. He was a tanner by trade and last known English address was Bermondsey. He called his farm in Tasmania 'Taplow' which suggests he had links there.
