The KIRTON family of Tilehurst
I have KIRTON family members from Tilehurst in my tree. My earliest entry is for a William KIRTON, my 6th maternal great grandfather. I have no definite dates for him but know he married an Elizabeth LOVEGROVE in Tilehurst in 1763. I believe they had 6 children and one of these, Mary KIRTON, married John TALBOT in Tilehurst in 1796.

Am trying to track down the correct parents of my 2G grandfather, Henry Pocock, christened 29 November 1812 in Tilehurst, Berkshire. His marriage entry lists his parents as John Pocock and Mary Hobbs of Berkshire. The only marriage I can find for these two names was on 8 November 1795 in Hampstead Norris, Berkshire but that union did not produce a child with the name of Henry. Can anyone help please?

My great-grandfather Richard Roake was a huntsman (I believe he was Master of Foxhounds) and manager of Kennels in Bath Road Tilehurst between 1850 and 1891. His wife was Mary, and his children were, Annie,(My Grandmother,who married John Blandy Roe of Whitchurch),Harry.Frank,Kate, Nellie,Mabel,(Who died in early childhood),Edmund and Reginald. My father believed that 2 of the sons moved North (probably Northamptonshire where their mother was born), and ran kennels there. He believed that they later went into the hotel business.
