We are looking for information on the family of George Kerr, my husband's grandfather. George was born in Saltcoats on 7th July 1895 to James and Rachel Kerr (Rachel's maiden name was Cruickshank). James and Rachel were married in 1891. He was born in 1863 in Saltcoats and Rachel was born in 1859 in Knowes of Elreck Banffshire ( I don't know if I have that quite right). According to the 1901 census the family was still living in Saltcoats, Ardrossen, Ayrshire. George migrated first to America in 1923 and then to Melbourne, Australia. His wife Mary and his two sons, James and John, joined him in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

I have John Maitland born 1804 married to Margaret Spiers (b 1806 West Kilbride) in 1828 in Saltcoates. He was a Flesher in Ardrossan an West Kilbride till his death in 1836 when Margaret took over, eventually becoming a cloth merchant. They had 4 children that I know of:- John, Janet, Mary and Robert who was born the same year his father died.

I am hoping to find descendants of Sarah and John Young, my grandmother's parents, from Saltcoats, Scotland. My grandmother,also Sarah, was the eldest and left home in 1911 (at age 18)to work in Australia as a nanny. She never saw Scotland again and married Herbert Truran, a Gallipoli veteran. They lived in Fremantle, Western Australia. Back in Saltcoats my grandmother had two sisters and three brothers. One sister, Agnes, later moved to Calgary, Canada. In Saltcoats, Sarah and John were prominent members of the Presbyterian Church.

Looking for relatives of my father. My father, Albert Alexander Mathieson was born on 11/12/33 in Nairn. His mother was Barbara Merchant Mathieson, b 1911, father Herbert Clark, b 1912. Annabel Clark was a witness at their wedding (she was from Nth Berbeston?? Glasgow). Barbara's parents were Donald and Majorie Mathieson (from Dundee - Donald was a shepherd). Dad was adopted by Charles and Agnes Everett when he was small - they changed his name to William Alexander Everett. Barbara and Herbert gave birth to a daughter, Barbara Isabella Burns Clark (or Mathieson)on 27/12/40 and later a son called Walter in 1946 (although Walter's father is named as Walter McCallum). Dad's family also has some links to Saltcoats and Inverness. We now live in New Zealand and would dearly love to know if any of Dad's family are still living. They may not know about him. Linda

I am looking for any information on David Kerr a Marine Engineer who married Barbara M J Christie. Barbara gave birth to a daughter Mary Gibson Kerr on 18 November 1884 in Dockhead Street, Saltcoats, Ayrshire. The family then moved to Singapore, and shortly afterwards, David Kerr died at sea in the Far East between 1885 and 1895. Barbara remained in Singapore running a guest house and died many years later.
