I'm trying to trace any info re my gt grandmother Eliza Jane who was born in Belfast around 1877 to Patrick Finegan and Catherine Cochran. Her father Patrick was a soldier. Eliza had a sister Mary who was also born in Belfast around 1865 and others who were born in Monaghan......namely Rose, Patrick and John. Eliza went to Glasgow and from then re was known as Jeanie or Janet. I have managed to trace her from when she gave birth to her son but would appreciate any other family info.
My Great Great Grandfather was Joseph HOLLAND who built Holland House, Sandown Road in 1881 and was later sold and became a College until it was demolished in 2004/5. Searching for his son's and daughters' descendants. Wm George b 1868 who we believe married Agnes Sinclair and probably lived in the Pottinger area of Belfast, as did the rest of the remaining family until the flu outbreak of 1918, which killed his mother, Mary Ann McCluskey (Holland) and sister Adalaide and Mabel Fitzgerald Holland Pollock. It was at this point that we know that his sister, Eliza Jane Holland Dickson, who was already the widow of Robert Dickson a nursery school teacher and her former collegue, whom she married at St Mark's Church, Dundella in 1887, wrote to her brother Fred in Atlanta, Georgia of their deaths and told that she was moving to Liverpool to be with her sister, Mary Anne Holland, who had married John Alexander Morrison, a draughtsman. If you have any information, the extensive families of Fred and Joseph Holland Jnr, would love to be reuinted with their relatives. Any ancestoral information would also be welcome. Please also see the entry for John HOLLAND b ca 1815 in Belfast as he was my Great Great Great Grandfather and father of Joseph Snr.

Looking for family information on Thomas & Lucinda (nee Wright) CALDWELL, parents of my maternal grandfather. My grandfather Thomas Gilmore/Gilmour CALDWELL was born in Belfast on 12 Dec 1897. I understand that there were probably five or six children born to Thomas & Lucinda however only Lucinda CALDWELL, Thomas Gilmore/Gilmour and his younger brother Samuel sailed to Wellington New Zealand on the ship 'Athenic' arriving in Wellington in Jan 1908. Thomas CALDWELL snr, had already emigrated to NZ prior to this date. Samuel died shortly after arriving n NZ. Thomas Caldwell snr, was killed in a work accident in 1914 on the SS Maitai at Wellington wharf. Any family information received with thanks.

All of the information I have came from the ship's manifest and US census'. John Armstrong born about 1858 in Belfast. Married twice, at least two children by first wife Beatrice born about 1890 and John born about 1893. Second wife Margaret Long born about 1869 in Newtownards married about 1895, Alfred born about 1896, Maud born about 1900, Eve born about 1902 and Audry Ida born about 1906. All eight of them came to the US in 1907 on the Cymric. Beatrice and John arrived June 14, 1907 and the rest of them arrived September 6, 1907. Their passage was paid for by George and Sarah McBride who are somehow John's brother-in-law and sister-in-law. In 1907 John's brother James lived at 9 Woodstock in Belfast and for some reason 11 White is crossed out. I cannot read what John's occupation was because one thing is written and then something else is written over it.

James Gallagher died 26 Jan 1929 at 51 Lisbon Road Belfast. His residence was at 36 Brougham St.In 1927 he was said to be at Carrickfurges. In 1897 he was a coachman in Co Meath. His wife was Anne Crowcock. Could someone search the street directories for 36 Brougham St to find who else was there in 1929? Can this be done or is it not possible. James was my great grandfather. I am trying to trace the history of my great great grandmother Annie Laird (born Belfast abt 1830) who married Alexander Hugh Elsdale (born Dublin abt 1820). His Father was John Elsdale, Mother unknown. Annie then married John Sullivan (also in Australia) who was born Middlesex, England abt 1832. Annie's parents were David Laird (born Belfast abt 1804) and Charlotte Scott (where and when unknown). Can anyone help me with any of these families?

McGovern Michael
Child of James McGovern and Ellen Smith (wife) born 23-5-1850 Michael married Mary Agnes McCullough (d-o-b 3-9-1852 Rathfriland, Dromore County) on 3 SEPT.1871, daughter of William McCullough. Did Michael have any Siblings. Michael and Mary emigrated to New Zealand on the sailing ship Chile on 13th July 1874. They had one two year old daughter, Agnes with them.

g.grandfather John Coulston(Coulson)(1841-1914) was an artilleryman in the 3rd Brigade, Royal Artillery and while posted to Artillery Hill, Halifax, Nova Scotia he wed Clara Carey of Halifax in 1869. He returned to Ireland with his new bride, apparently settling at Terrenew, Dungannon where they had Bessie,Louisa,Charles, Robert - my grandfather whose birth certificate indicates he was born 1875 at Terrenew (his father John Coulston, a farmer). It is my understanding that his parents John Coulston(Coulson) sr. and Mary Struthers may have been from Belfast. Does anyone have any info on these families or any suggestions as to where I might begin my search. I believe they were prsybterian.
