red mail Mcdonald/Macdonald/Sinclair/Millar
I am looking for anyone who is researching the above families. Donald Mcdonald snr married a Margaret Sinclair whose parents who John and Isabella Sinclair (nee Millar). Donald's father was Charles Mcdonald. After Margaret's death it appears Donald and Margaret's sister, Ann had 3 children, Georgina Ross Mcdonald, Isabella Millar Mcdonald and my Great Grandfather, Donald (or Daniel) Mcdonald (born 1863). Donald Snr and Ann died when Donald jnr was young and he may have lived with an 'Aunt Betsy' prior to emigrating to Australia in 1886. Donald Jnr may have worked in a textile mill. If anyone is also researching this family I would be grateful as Donald Snr's death certificate only mentions 'Charles' as father so I can't go back any further.
red mail Haggart Gene David W.
I am searching for any information about my grandfather, Gene Haggart, he was born in Brechin and l remember visiting his family there - l can remember the names Ray, Dennis and possibly a Ron - my memory is hazy as l was only about 4 years old - my grandad Gene met and married my nanny, Peggy who came from Lound but once married they lived in Great Yarmouth, together they had 3 children, Nova, Julia and Gary, unfortunately Gary died in 1963. My grandad Gene took me to meet his father who l can remember had lost part of / one of his legs during the 1st world war (?) - l loved my grandad dearly and l have no family left who remember him and l would love to touch base with some Haggart relatives - my grandad died when he was 49 - l know he was the black sheep of the family, but l only remember him as the man who loved me beyond reason - if you can help, please contact me.
red mail McIntosh Family
I wonder if you can help me please with regard to my Gx3 grandfather James McIntosh. He was born in Edinburgh in c1769 and married an Isabella Nisbet in Dunbar in 1794 whilst he was in the East Lothian Cavalry. He features in the Muster Rolls at Kew. At one time in 1795 he was absent and Brechin added in the margin of the record. Can you think of any reason why the regiment would visit the Brechin area? Or was he visiting family, as ironically I have found McIntosh's in your area :- William and Euphane (nee Hunter) had children with familiar names to my family eg Mary b 1786 and William b 1789 ( born Dundee), David b 1794 ( St Andrews) and Jean Brown b 1796, Euphan b 1797, and Summer Blair b 1800 (born at Brechin) Indicating that this family moved around a lot (Military Service also?) My James's family were all born in Edinburgh :- James b 1807, David 1809, William 1812 and another Jean Brown b 1816. I cannot find any reference to James And Isabella after the birth of their children, when James was listed as a Gentleman's Gentleman. I hope you can possibly assist me? Kind regards, Gordon
