Harrison - Newton Regis
I'm looking for Harrison's from Newton Regis from at least 1763. John Harrison and Ann Hinckley/Hinsley were married there in 1763. Children include John (b.1767), Sarah (b. 1769) m. George Barfield, Thomas (b.1772) m. Mary ?, William (b. 1779), Mary (b.1774), James (b.1777).
Harrison's shown to be living in this area till at least 1901 census. Early 1850's Thomas and John Harrison (gt grandson's of John) came to New Zealand. Any info on Newton Regis or descendants gladly received. |
STRETTON
Am researching STRETTONs of NEWTON REGIS (& BREADSALL??)from early 1800s back. I'm a little worried about data I have for MARTIN STRETTON (married MARY DOWLMAN in BREADSALL on 18/8/1782). He was father of ANN (& 7 siblings), who was bapt.19/4/1795 in NEWTON REGIS. From other sources I have him b. 1756-58 in BREADSALL, Derbyshire to SAMUEL STRETTON & ELIZABETH WOMBWELL BUT 1841 census has him born abt 1766 in Warwickshire. Even with the '41 rounding,doesn't tally with the b. abt 1756-8, Derbyshire!

Leavesley, Brewery owner
My Gt. Gt. Grandparents were, William James Leavesley and Sarah Wilson, William was born in Newton Regis, Warwickshire , in 1806. Sarah was born in Wales. They later lived in Sheffield and William was a grain Merchant and Brewery (beerhouse) owner there. They were married in Middlesex County in 1836.
Their Children were, Mary born 1838, James born 1840 (My Gt. Grandfather) , Elizabeth born 1842, Willis born 1844 and Walter born 1848. If anyone can shed more light on my family, please do.
