Henderson/Telfer families of Lochmaben
I'm trying to find the birth/baptism for Isabella Telfer, born about 1822 in Lochmaben. She married Robert Henderson in 1841 at Lochmaben, Dumfries, Scotland. On her death cert her father is stated as Mr Telfer(poss John) a mason, and her mother is Mary Millar. I have found the births for 3 other children for John Telfer and Mary Millar, but nothing for Isabella. On the 1861 and 1871 census Isabella and her husband Robert Henderson are with Jean Telfer, born 1824 at Lochmaben. She is stated as sister in law to Robert, Isabella's sister i would imagine. In 1851 a Jean Telfer is with her mother, Mary Millar, widow at Lochmaben. I believe the same Jean and the same Mary. Mary died under her maiden name Millar, as her son Robert Telfer was the witness to her death. The only other information I have which may help is that 3 of Robert and Isabella Henderson's children's names are Andrew Telfer Henderson, Janet Wallace Henderson and Matthew Rae Henderson. All the other children do not have middle names. The middle name Telfer comes from Isabella's family, Wallace I don't know and the Rae name I believe has a connection to other Telfers by marriage. Can anyone help me with finding Isobella's birth parents, or was she perhaps adopted.? All help will be grateful thanks from Maxine
