Fore Hamlet
I have had the opportunity to look at Census returns for my ancestors, and am curious about the addresses. 1841 & 1851 listed "Fore Hamlet", the next listed a number on that street, then the later returns listed "4 Abbotts Court". Does a map exist showing the Courts along Fore Hamlet?
Frank Charles Gooding born 1881 in Ipswich
Updated - thanks to Jan! Frank's father was Charles Arthur Gooding - born in 1846 in Barham - his parents were Samuel & Eliza. Mother was Maria Victoria Farrow born 1843, Ludham, Norfolk Both were in the boot making business, and lived at 27 William St, Ipswich St. Margaret for the 1881 & 1891 Census, and at 15 Cobbold St, Ipswich St.Margaret for the 1901 Census. Maria died in late 1903, and at Census time 1911, Charles had been married to Matilda for 4 years and was living at 7 Great Wingfield St, St. Stephens, Ipswich. Frank had an older sister, Augusta Maria, born about 1877. She married Ernest Josiah D. Faulkner in 1901 in Kensington. Would love to hear from any of Augusta's descendants, or any other relatives.
Walter Canham
Researching the Canham family of Ipswich. Walter (son of James & Mary Ann Sophia)appears with them in Ipswich in the 1871 & 1881 censuses, but I cannot track him in 1891. In 1901 he was running the County Hotel in Ipswich with his wife Florence & 4 daughters Elsie, Sybil, Nellie & Ivy. Dorothy & Kathleen were born later. Does anyone have any more info about Walter (or his sister Ada), please? Thank you. Val
