red mail Jack Crush - Born in Gravesend 1920's
I'm trying to find out about my Uncle Jack (son of Edward William Crush born 1899 and Rosa Lucy Lipscombe born 1905, married in 1924). His brothers are Kenneth Raymond Crush b1934, Maurice Conrad Crush b1929, sisters Yvonne Rose Crush b1930, Carole Inez Crush b1944, and Faith Eileen Crush b1925 d1940/41. I have been told he was an older brother, who in WW2 served on the homeguard in Gravesend with his dad. He was married and moved away to London to run a pub. I have never seen him, and have been told he goes by another name.
A.B. G Birchley SS Persia
G Birchley was an Able Seaman aboard SS Persia when she was torpedoed and sunk on 30th December 1915. At that time he was 52 years old, having been born in Gravesend. He was one of the 37 London-based crew who survived. Almost 350 people perished. I am researching the SS Persia sinking and the people who were aboard. Any information welcomed.

red mail Margaret Williams
My mother Margaret Williams lived in Gravesend 1900-1930 I think she lived at The Grange. Probably went to Cecil street school with her brother John. Had a friend Win Finch. Anybody know anything?
William was my uncle, he had a sister, Kathleen Esther (1910 - 2003) Their parents were William Archibald ROGERS and Margaret Home BROWN, of Dartford. William worked at Littlebrook Power Station. I was told he married a lady called Dorothy, who was a dressmaker, but I cannot trace any information about her and certainly he was single in the 1950s. However I am sure he wore a wedding ring, which was unusual in those days. Does anyone know anything about Dorothy please. I have plenty of information about the Rogers/Brown families in Sutton at Hone and Horton Kirby if anyone is interested. Many thanks..Belinda

red mail Frances Thornton
I am looking for details of Benjamin Mitchell Holloway who married Frances Thornton in Holy Trinity, Milton, Gravesend in 1847. Benjamin was a Civil Engineer and by 1848 was in Bombay, India. I then have him marrying Mary Denton in 1851 in Bombay so maybe Frances died soon after they were married. Anyone know about Thorntons in Gravesend? Many thanks Liz
red mail James Barton
Looking for the "English connection" of my family. My understanding is that my ggf James William Barton and wife Sarah Ann Lee (married Aug 31,1890)emigrated from Gravesend to Ohio in 1910 or 1911, with their 5 children:William James, George Richard, Frances Frederich,John Edward and Ellen(Nellie). James was orphaned when he was quite young and was raised by an aunt and uncle. Think James had two sisters. One sister married a Burden that imigrated to Austrailia and think the other sister's name might be Polly. Sarah Ann Lee was born in Whitechapel district.
