Trying to trace Duncan McFarlane. Have a death certificate for James McFarlane that states his parents were Duncan McFarlane and Anne McLaren from Dull. Son James was born in Dull around 1798 and married Jane McLiesh in 1831.

My grandmother told me that we were decendants from the dewar whisky family but i am unable to find any connection, my g grandfather was james john dewar and his mother was isabella dewar, i have seen entries in the 1881 and and 1891 census the first stating she was a servant and second stating she was a dressmaker, she had an illigitimate son james born in 1885, i have james birth certificate which states isabella was a governess but i am having trouble tracing her back any further, if anyone can help i would be very grateful

I have traced my family tree back to Duncan Dewar who married Margaret Robertson on 6/10/1805 in Logierait. Duncan was from Weem, part of Aberfeldy, Perthshire. their children were Donald, Duncan, Amelia, William, John & Margaret. My GGG Grandfather was William who had at least 10 kids with Janet Buchan from Perth, my GG grandfather was John , his sister Jessie married William Scimgeour in 1870 and had several kids and lived in Methven , ran hotel and farm.
