red mail c.1862 church struck by lightning
My great grandfather, Richard P. C. Sanderson, b.1858, in Tranmere, wrote of witnessing a lightning strike on a church during an electrical storm that "blew the tower off." He was a child watching from a second story window probably in the Claughton area but might have been Oxton. Does anyone know of a church being struck around 1862-1868 and, if so, the name of the church.

Charles and John Povall settled in Natal South Africa around 1840. I presume they were brothers and have found out that Charles was baptised in Liverpool in 1820. Can anyone help with names of parents and any siblings who remained in England. I have details of both their spouses plus children's names and birth dates.

red mail Aileen Clarke
Aileen Clarke was born in the Birkenhead registration district in 1925. Her mother was Bessie Clarke from Kendal, Westmorland, who was unmarried. Although Bessie gave birth to Aileen in Birkenhead, it is believed that she had been staying with her cousin Florrence in Upper Parliament Street, Liverpool for a short while before giving birth. Soon after Aileen was born, Bessie returned to her family in Kendal without Aileen. It is assumed that Aileen was adopted. What happened to Aileen? Bessie subsequently married, had a family and grandchildren. Any information about Aileen or Bessie will be most welcome.
