John Bate born Warrington circa 1838 married Anne ? born Warrington circa 1840. 7 children, Ann Jane, Eleanor, William D, Florence, Eliza Alice, Walter J and Clara E. Any info on this family most welcome. Ann (known as Jane) eldest daughter married a Mr Bain who believe to have owned the velvet cutting shop on Winick Rd. Both Jane and her sister Eleanor were Fustian Cutters here. Son William D my gt gt grandfather, was a tanner at the tannery yard on Winick Rd.

Does anyone have any information about the Crown & Sceptre pub in Buttermarket St.Warrington. A relative has a set of bowls from the 1850's with the name of the pub on the measuring tape and the name of G.Eastwood,the ancestor who owned the bowls was James Gorst.
