red mail Bowsher And Pottinger Families (8/02-10/03 Red)
My direct ancestor was Henry Bowsher (born Upper Lambourn 1834) and his parents were Abraham Bowsher (born Upper Lambourn 1810) and Hannah Carter (born Childrey 1815). I have traced what I think to be Henry's ancestry back several generations, but Iwould be interested to hear from anyone else who is interested in the Bowsher family from the Lambourn area. Because of the vagaries of spelling in the 17th and 18th centuries, the spelling of the surname varies between Bosher, Bowsher, Bowshere and a few other variants. The family appears to have lived in Upper Lambourn, Lambourn and Lambourn Woodlands. I am also interested in the Pottinger family of Lambourn as Abraham Bowsher's mother was Hannah Pottenger (born Upper Lambourn 1776).
