red mail Charles Edward Pembroke (Mar 06 Red)
Looking for any family living in Three Mile Cross in 1920's-30's. My grandfather Charles Edward (b 14/5/1906) abandoned his wife and son, changed his name to Pembroke and ran off to be with my grandmother. He had a large family in Three Mile Cross at least 4 other brothers one of whom changed his age to serve in WWI and who then died in The Somme. He was the son of a farmer and could remember great detail about the village and his home but never gave us enough details to help us find his home. We never found out the whole truth about his life until he died 10 years ago at which point my grandmother had to admit to what had happened. If anyone can shed any light on this situation I would be eternally grateful as otherwise I have little or no chance of ever letting my father find out more about his family.

Mary Russell Mitford wrote Our Village describing life at Three Mile Cross, she lived there 1820 to 1850
