I have traced my great grandfather and great grandmother back to Sonning, Berkshire. He was George Wright born 1861 who married Jane M (do not know her maiden name) who was born in 1864. They had five children, Georgine, Henry (my Grandfather), Ellen, Leonard (who emigrated to Australia) and Ethel. Any information on them would be very much appreciated.

My husband is descended from John ATTWELL (born 1822 in Sonning), child of Robert and Sarah ATTWELL. John married Sarah NEVILLE there on 17/2/1849 (daughter of John and Mary NEVILLE). John ATTWELL worked as a sawyer in the town until his death in Sep qtr of 1877, whilst his widow Sarah was still living there in an almshouse on the 1901 census. Their children were John (b1849); Ambrose (b1850) and twins Victoria Mary (aka Mary) & Albert Joseph (b1860). This second John married Elizabeth DAWKINS (b c1850 in Bishopstone by Salisbury, Wilts) between 1871-1881 and they went on to have four children Ada Mary (b1876/7 Molsey Surrey, or Fareham Kent); John George Herbert (known as George b c1879 same places); Amy (b1881 Faversham) and Ernest James (b1883 Luddenham, Kent). I will happily share any information with others researching any of these lines.

I went to St. Andrew's School in the 1950s when Mr Chapman was Headmaster. I have caught up with some of the "girls" on my trips back to England but where are the "boys"? Nicky Strong, John Freemantle and Douglas and Stephen Hamilton are a few I remember. Also what happened to Rosemary Holloway, Veronica Miller and my friend Kathy Andrews who lived on the island at Sonning Lock? Does anyone remember Mrs Edie Prior at the Sweet Shop, Dr. Hammond and Bert Huggins the butcher?

Thomas Flower, Blacksmith, married Mary Pizzey at Sonning 1848. Fathers: John Flower (also a Blacksmith) and John Pizzey. Usual address of the couple given as Earley (near Reading) and two daughters born there 1850/1852. Other "Flower" and/or "Pizzey" or "Pezzey" people at Sonning? Any trace of these families very much appreciated.

I am looking for information on Henry Belcher who lived in The Pit with his father-in-law William White in 1881. Henry was married to Rhoda White. Their childrens names were Theodore, John, Edith and Caroline.
