Porter Family in Riseley (Mar 09 Red)
I'm looking for any information relating to my PORTER family, residing in Risely from about 1775 onwards. I have some information about William Porter (I believe his parents where John and Elizabeth - nee Crick) who married Mary Mitchell in 1811. William & Mary had 10 children, but I have had very little success in finding any information about them - the majority of the children do not appear on any Census. The exeptions are Barzilia, who married Sophia Flavell in 1843 and I think they emigrated to Australia, and William who married Catherine Walker in 1853 who went on to have 9 Children. I would love to hear from anyone who has any links to this family.

Goss of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire (Revised Aug 09 Red)
Thomas Goss married Ann Sibthorpe (aka Thipthap) at Little Woolstone, Buckinghamshire in 1711. They moved to Riseley in the 1720s where they ran a dairy farm. The family stayed in Riseley until 1852 when Lucy Goss gave birth to an illegitimate son William Goss which resulted in mother, baby and grandparents moving to Biggleswade. William Goss' father is not given on his birth certificate.

Valentine/Smith (Apr 07 Green)
Has anyone any connections with John and Leah (nee Smith) Valentine? John was born according to the 1851 census at Riseley and became a Brickmaker.

My grandmother Alice Louise HARRIS emigrated to America in early 1900s. She was born in Northampton 1884. Her father Thomas Eli HARRIS born in Cranfield, Beds near Marston Mortaine, Beds Md Sarah Ann BIGNALL of Moulsoe, Bucks. His Father George HARRIS born North Crawley, Bucks near Marston Mortaine, Beds 1805. He Md Jemima HERN (place? When?). Children Eliza, Emma, Jane, George, Elizabeth, Thomas, George, Mary Ann, Samuel. His Father George HARRIS b abt 1776 Md Sarah COOPER (of?) in Marston Mortaine, Beds 1797 with children George, Samuel, Denis, Josiah, Emanuel, William, Eliza, Elizabeth. George's father William HARRIS md 1773 Ann AUSTIN in North Crawley, children George, William, John, Thomas, Lydia, Mary. I want to find where William's father John HARRIS Md Sarah (?) abt 1747 (Riseley, Beds or?) and was born abt 1724 and any other children(?). Can you help? I'm in England in East Yorkshire for a few more months.

Clifton Surname (Jul 04 Red)
I am trying to find out more information about the Clifton Family from England. These are on my mother's side. Thomas Clifton married Ester Elizabeth (Lizzie) Perkins. They had the following children; Fred (1899-1988), Daisy, Jack, Thomas adn two other children. Fred married Violet Currie (my great aunt). They resided near Riseley, Bedfordshire, England. I am researching links to the Nutter family that may or may not still be resident in Riseley. My Great, Great Grandfather Joseph Nutter was born in Riseley around 1840. I believe that there were several families of that name in Riseley and the surrounding villages at that time and would be interested in any information that may be available.

William FAIREY married Mary Cooper in May 1788 in Riseley and they had 7 children all born in Riseley. SUSAN m Wiliam Wildman, WILLIAM m. Ann Sams, ELIZABETH m. William Gell, JOSEPH m Ann Rootham, MARY ANN, GEORGE m. Sarah Young and JOHN m. Jane Gell. Are there any connections ?. Very happy to share information I have collected.
