Jones Family
I am trying to find details of 2 brothers who emigrated to Canada, I think Winnipeg as I have a postcard dated of St James's Park Winnipeg dated 1937. They were David John Jones and Thomas Charles Jones. On 1891 census they were aged 13 and 8 sons of Benjamin and Elizabeth Jones nee Williams. The boys were born in Pontypridd and were living in Tir y Berth, Gelligaer, their father was then a farmer. By 1901 David John was missing and the family were living in Hopkinstown Rd Pontypridd. Benjamin was a grocer and also ran the Post Office. My aunt told me they emigrated to Canada and one was a "minister" and the other " a government official". The term minister would have applied to one in the nonconformist church, as all the family were Methodists or Presbyterreans. Lynne

Looking for information about Susannah Griffiths Born 19/06/10, her twin Rachel was my Great Grandmother. They lived in Pontypridd, born in Porth. red mail Jenkins, Roberts
Samson and Jockey Roberts (brothers) moved to Pontypridd from the South of England to start a scrap metal business. Jockeys real name was William. At some point Jockey returned South, and Samson spent time in Newport before settling in a village called Aberkenfig. My concern is Samson's daughter Gentila (also mistranscribed as Genty, Jentela etc) who met a David Jenkins in Pontypridd, (he was born 1886 in Pontypridd, father named John Jenkins a coal miner) and on the 1911 census is camped in woods in Abersychan with him and their baby Celia born 1910. My particular interest is that the baby 'disappeared' from the family and was never spoken of. We've traced her forward, including buying her marriage cert, and so we know she didn't die. She did keep her Jenkins surname til marriage so wasn't adopted, unless by her fathers family. Gentila later remarried and had 3 children (one my grandmother) who knew nothing about little Celia. David had a sister Rachel Jenkins born 1889 in Pontypridd. Thankyou, sorry very long winded!!

red mail Thompson/Moss
I'm doing family research for a friend. Her grandfather James THOMPSON married Alice Violet MOSS on 10 July 1910 at the parish church of St Peter, St Paul, Mitcham. According to their marriage certificate at the time of the marriage James lived at 18 Oakwood Avenue and Alice at 3 Kemps Cottages. Her father George MOSS was a coffee house keeper and James's father James was a miner. After the two were married they moved to Pontypridd in Wales where their son Henry George THOMPSON was born in 1912. Father James went off to war and died on the battlefields leaving mother and child. As a result Henry George was placed in an orphanage at about age two until his mother remarried several years later and was taken home. We would love to know anything about this family particularly the Thompson side of the family and also which orphanage the child was placed in. Kind regards, Gay
red mail Albert R. Rees b.07/03/1912 - d. Jan 2003
Hi there, This is probably a huge shot in the dark but I was wondering if anyone has any information on my great grandfathers biological mother, my great grandfather was born in 1912 in the Pontypridd district and his mother died in childbirth after which he was adopted. I'm not entirely sure what his mothers name was or even if her surname was Rees although I'm pretty sure it was because my great grandfather was an illegitimate child. Maybe he was born in the workhouse?? If anyone has any information on her and her family i'd be truly grateful. Thank you
red mail FENLY
