JOHN CARPENTER
(Aug 09
Green)
Boldre
Looking for any info on my GGGgrandfather, John Carpenter, who was born in Boldre in 1769. Also born in Boldre in the same year was a Jenny (or Jane) Pearce whom he married in 1792.Together they had a family of 8 children. (John's parents were George and Sarah, Jenny (or Jane's) parents were Thomas and Elisabeth. John Carpenter was a bearer at the funeral of Margaret Gilpin in 1807. She was the widow of William Gilpin, the well known vicar of the parish. My GGGgrandfather was presented with a bible on the occasion. It was the custom to select the bearers from amongst the poorest families in the parish. Many thanks.

Yarmouth
I'm transcribing the Parish Records for Reighton in Yorkshire and have found a burial entry for two shipwrecked sailors from Yarmouth, Richard Language and Thomas Capps (?) who were buried there in November 1791. Has anyone any idea of which ship they may have been on. Reighton is a small village at the souothern end of Filey Bay, about a mile inland.
