Pegler - Walkley
(Oct 09
Red)
I would like any information about the descendants of William & Maria Walkley who were recorded as living in Painswick in the 1841 and 1851 census records. Children recorded are James,Alfred,George,Frederick and Charles. These are actually the children of Maria's first marriage to William Pegler. They took the name Walkley during their childhood, but some reverted to Pegler when they became adults.

Beavins/Painswick
(Aug 09
Red)
The Beavins family were living in Painswick until the late 1800's. Joseph was mentioned in Pigot's Directory as a Tailor. There is a memorial to him and his mother (Sarah Thomas)in the United reform Church. The surname appears to be welsh but could be french (Bois Vin)and is often mis-spelt as Bevins or Bevin (eg. Census)
I am interested in anything previous to 1839.

Dixon & Jonsson Families
(Jan 09 Green)
I am looking for information about my mother's family - and her ancestors who came from Sweden. John & Hannah Jonsson's son Swen emigrated to UK and married a Welsh girl, Jessie Ada Beavan (b. 1859); they had 9 children, the eldest of whom, Anjanetta, was my maternal grandmother. She met and married James Dixon who came from Painswick and travelled to Newport Mon. to seek work and they settled down in Newport, where my mother Daisy Annie Dixon was born. One of Anjanetta's sister's or sisters-in-law, was housekeeper in what my mother used to describe as the'big house' in Painswick.
