Nellie White Mortimer Berkshire
(Revised Apr 09 Green)
My grandmother Nellie White was in service as a domestic servant for a family in Mortimer or surrounding area. She was 14yrs old (1905) when she was first employed there and stayed until approx: 1913. She is not listed on the 1911 census so perhaps the family were away and she was with them.

Richard & Mary Roake.
(Jun 06
Red)
Can anyone tell me the name of the parish church
in Mortimer. My father while writing about his
family said that his grandfather & grandmother,
Richard & Mary Roake of "The Kennels", Bath Road, Tilehurst, Reading between 1850 and 1900, were buried in a churchyard in Mortimer. He said his grandad Roake lived into his 80's but although I can find many death records of "Richard Roake" I cannot find the one for my great grandad.
