Cox's Lane
(Nov 09
Red)
Can anyone give any information on how this lane became named?
My family (Cox) farmed in and around Mansfield Woodhouse from early 1700 to mid 1800.
maybe a long shot but I wonder if the two are linked?

John Mabbott
(Oct 08
Red)
I am trying to find my uncle. His name is John Mabbott and he would have gone to school in the Nottingham area. His parents (my Grandparents) lived in Nottingham and were Hilda Mabbott and I actually can't remember my grandfathers name! He would be between 60-70 now I think. He had two sisters - Jean (my mother) and June and one brother Brian. He was in the RAF - I think he was a helicopter pilot.

Mabbott's in Mansfield Woodhouse
(Aug 08
Red)
Could anyone help me with my research of the Mabbott family in Mansfield Woodhouse? Any information would be helpful even if you weren't related.
My father was Reg Mabbott he was a well known Decorator in the area also having been in partnership with his brother Graham for some time, as Mabbott Bros.
My grandfather was Harry Mabbott his wife was Frances Lenton. Harry worked for the council and for sometime was caretaker of Leeming Lane cemetery,Frances was a member of the Labour club. Their children were Harry, Reg, Jessie, Graham and Mona.
My great uncle was William Mabbott he was badly wounded in WW1 and lost a leg, he was a member of the British Legion in Woodhouse, I am told he was well known.
My great aunts Hilda died in 1960 she married Arthur Hassall and had 10 children.
Elizabeth (Ciss) died in 1955 and married Arthur Thompson and had 6 children. They may have had a grocery shop in Woodhouse? Ellen died 1927 she married Herbert Charlesworth they had a daughter Doris.
Catherine died 1972 and married Alfred Gregson, they had 3 children.
If anyone of these names rings a bell please contact me any information will be helpful. All information will be kept private if requested. Thank you.
