red mail Ward's & Shenfield's from Lowestoft (Oct 09 Red)
Emma Ward married Edward Shenfield guessing sometime in 1860-1863 Emma was one of eight daughters born to a shipping?-fishing? family. They had 9 children all born in Lowestoft. Two sons came to Canada in 1890 and the rest of the family followed in 1894 on a cuddysark crewed by Emma and three sisters. Once the family arrived in Canada the cuddysark was crewed home by Emma's three sisters. The family arrived on the East coast of Canada and drove a horse wagon to Ontario then the train to Calgary then a horse wagon to Bowden where they settled on homesteads. I am looking for information on Emma Ward's family and Edward Shenfield's family.

In 1910 she bore a son, Eric Leslie Bevan WILLIAMS (evidently illegitimate). Later in 1911 she married Frank Richard RUSSELL in London. red mail Rant Family Lowestoft (Sep 08 Red)
I am looking for any information on my relatives the Rant family. My grandfather Ernest Rant died in 1932? in his 30's in Lowestoft or possibly Yarmouth as I believe relatives also lived there. red mail Jackman/Ayers of Lowestoft fl 1780s (Sep 08 Red)
I have a good father to son line from John Jackman/Sarah Ayers through William 1. (b 1784 Lowestoft) , William 2 (b. 1810 Blackwall), Joseph (Job) (b. 1838 Gt Yarmouth, James R. (b. 1869 Gt Yarmouth), James H. (my father b. 1897 N/C on Tyne) to my generation. I'm trying to work backward from John Jackman who was married to Sarah Ayers and living in Lowestoft in the 1780s when most of their children were born, & baptised in the parish church. Sarah was from Lowestoft & her baptism & ancestry is well established via the parish registers. However, their marriage, which must have been c. 1780/84 doesn't seem to be in the register - I've searched the indexes, & others have failed to find it in the microfilmed registers. Neither does John appear before the 1780s, or others in the Jackman family (though they become evident in Great Yarmouth from the 1830s. He & Sarah seem to have died elsewhere, too - John before the coming of the BDM registers; there are one or two possibilities for Sarah in neighbouring towns/villages. I'm assuming John was born elswhere, and if near to Sarah in age, around 1760. But where to begin? He and his sons, grandsons, gt.g sons were associated with the sea, so he could have migrated from another fishing/sailing area. If anyone has a marriage between this John Jackman & Sarah Ayers, or a possible birthplace/date for John, I would love to hear from them. Margaret
