red mail Tompkin (Aug 09 Red) Silverdale
Mary Olive Tompkin (born 1858), daughter of William and Mary Tompkin, granddaughter of John & Mary Morris of Quicksfield, Denstone, Staffs., married my grandfather, George Henry Homer Marlow, a journeyman baker from Bewdley, Worcs., at St Lukes Church, Silverdale on 27 October 1892. The address they gave on their marriage certificate was Church Street, Silverdale. They had three daughters, Gladys Edith, Hilda Mary and Bessie Homer all of whom, anecdotally, achieved their M.A at Bangor University. Mary Olive died in 1919. Information on the Tompkin family eagerly sought!

red mail Mellor family in Audley (Jul 09 Red) Audley
Thomas Mellor married Ann Mellor ( yes, that was her maiden name as well) by licence on 30 November 1783 in Audley. Does anyone have information on either of these people ? They might have been the parents of William Mellor, born 21 July 1785 but the birth was in Cornwall. William married Grace Rapson, also of Cornwall, but I am keen to understand any link between these people. Why should Thomas move to Cornwall ? Or indeed who were the parents of Thomas Mellor and Ann Mellor - and was there a s reason for the marriage by licence ?

red mail LATHAM MIGRANT (Jun 09 Red) Woore
I am researching the name LATHAM, which I have traced to the early 1800's - I think! Knowing that the Latham name was prominent in that era, I was troubled to discover that there was two branches of the family, with a recurring firstname (but spelled slightly differently) in both. The first spelling is COLTON and the other is COULTON. Other clues are similarly vague: marriages with ELIZABETH's and SARAH's make the task more difficult. If there is anyone who can set me on the correct path, it would be very much appreciated.
