Ernest BROWN born 1882
(Nov 09 Green)
I am hoping to contact anyone that might be related to, or have any information on, my great-uncle Ernest Brown. He was born in Yeadon and his family (father John William Brown and mother Elizabeth nee Sutton) moved to Armley near Leeds. Ernest was their eldest child and he had siblings Annie Elizabeth, Herbert Arthur, Florence Mary, Adelaide and William Henry.
Ernest joined the army in 1902 (the Royal Garrison Artillery) and was posted overseas to Malta, Ceylon, Hong Kong and Singapore. He was discharged in June 1914 but I don't know what happened to him after that. I assume he was called up again when the First World War broke out, but I can't find any records for him and I don't know if he survived or not. I know he was still alive in 1917 because he was a witness at his brother Herbert's wedding in Leeds.
If this sounds like your relative, please get in touch. I would be delighted to hear from you.
Thanks!

Cocker/Catton from Leeds and Cliff areas
(Oct 09
Red)
I am tracing my father's family, Cocker, who originally hailed from Cliff, near Selby and later from Leeds. My father moved to Oswestry around 1920, when he was five years old, his father having remarried Alice Lloyd there. I know my grandmother was called Ann Elizabeth Catton, born in 1882 in Leeds, and she died a few months after my father was born. She married William Cocker in 1904 and they had Alice in 1905, Ada in 1914 and George (my father) in 1915. Any information on any of the family would be appreciated, particulary Alice Cocker who left home about 1920 aged 15 and wasn't heard from again.
