Colemans and Bradleys of Kirkby Nottinghamshire
(Revised Mar 09 Green)
My dad was from Selston Notts and I have traced him back there to c1620. His mum was born in South Normanton (Derbys or Notts depending on who you talk to!)- the Smedley family. My mum was born on Mary St, down "The Summit", lived on Clumber St for most of her young life, until she married dad. Mum's family on the Bradley side, are from Kirkby going back years, and on her dad's side, from Heage in Derbys. All mining and/or farming families. If anyone wants to get in touch to exchange info about the Colemans, or anything related - please do so.
Cheers for now

rebecca rollinson and thomas cobley (correction)
(Sep 08 Green)
Actually, Samuel Rollinson and Maria, nee Nuttall, settled in New Zealand for life. We have a detailed story from a descendant, Debbie Little. It was Samuel's nephew, Alfred Lewitt, son of his sister, Elizabeth, who didn't settle in New Zealand, but returned to England with his wife, Mary Ann,nee Bray. After the death of their child, Ernest, on the way out, they had two children in New Zealand, Ruth and Alice. They are in Belper, Derbyshire, in 1881. Ann Eliza, Emma, Ada Elizabeth and Ernest are born in England. They are then found in Massachussetts in 1900 with six children. Wilfred George is born in the U.S. and Alice has married Ernest Leroy Tucker and left her parents' home. Most of this information is from the IGI.

FLORRIE COULTHARD, nee HIGHAM
(Feb 08 Green)
Florrie was born in 1896 in Kirkby to John Higham and Alice, nee Franks. Alice was the youngest child of Charles Franks and Elizabeth, formerly Lewitt, nee Rollinson. Elizabeth was the daughter of my great great great grandmother, Rebecca Rollinson/Rolleston/Rawlinson/Rolleson. Her father may have been Thomas Smith, alias Cobbley, who lived with her mother from 1841 until his death in 1888. I am trying to unravel the mystery of Thomas Smith/Cobbley, and thought that descendants of Florrie might have more information, as she is of the female line.
Kristin, London.

MAUD BEARDSMORE (nee Butler)
(Oct 07
Red)
Hello I am looking for info on Maud Beardsmore (nee Butler) from Kirkby in Ashfield. She was born circa 1894 (not sure where, possibly Kirkby). Her brothers Frank, Fred and Tom set up the 'Butler Brothers' bus company in the 1920's in Kirkby. I would like to know her parents names and where they were born to enable me to go back further in my family tree. Any info, however small it may seem, will be a great help. Thanks, Michelle
