green mail Louise GOWARD spouse William Philip SLAUGHTER (Nov 09 Green)
My grandmother's (Annie Rose MILTON, nee GOWARD) sister, Louise GOWARD, born HOLBORN, is the only member of her family whose birth/baptism record I have been unable to find. Since all the family were baptised I find it hard to believe she wasn't. Despite frequent searches online I have not yet found her. St. Thomas Charterhouse appears to be the church used, and the whole family lists St. Lukes as the area of their birth on census records.

red mail Trying to trace a place called Little Thornes, Islington. (Nov 09 Red)
Trying to trace a place called Little Thornes, Islington, home of a friend's grandfather. Does this ring any bell or can somebody help me find out what the area would be called now? Thank you. Barry.

red mail James Frederick Peacock - 1878, Islington (Nov 09 Red)
James is the son of William P and Bella Ford also of Islington. James is my 2nd cousin and I am against the 'brick wall'! Any relatives of James out there? He possibly married a Lucy Tilbury in Edmonton in 1912. They had children Cyril - 1916 and Muriel - 1924. Cyril married an Ena Coles and they had a son Roger in 1951 born in Cambridge.

red mail Kingaby Family - Islington - Middx (Nov 09 Red)
My unmarried mother (born 1922?) give her address on my birth certificate (1945) as 21 Camden Rd Islington. Her name was ELEANOR KINGABY....In 1954 - I was (with great reluctance on THEIR part)FORMALLY adopted by the Kiff family( with whom I had lived since birth). From her features ( on my only photograph of her ) - together with my features....leads me to the belief that I may be of Jewish Heritage. This belief is compounded by the fact that, a few weeks after my adoption( at 9 years old ),I was ( without any discussion ) baptised into the local Methodist Church ( the nearest Christian Church to our house!). None of the KIFF family were in any way devoutly religious - They were 'nominal christian church attendees'! ( Christenings, marriages & funerals!).My adoptive mother was an unpleasant woman - who refused to give me ANY information as to my heritage. I would therefore ask if ANYONE can provide any information - I would be truly grateful. Many thanks in anticipation.

green mail Cloudesley Square, Islington (Oct 09 Green)
Great great great grandmother Hannah KING nee WAKELING of East Anglia(Haverhill, Linton...) visited London in 1832 to see her new grand-daughter, Elizabeth King HOLLWAY, daughter of Elizabeth KING who had married Joseph Richard HOLLWAY. As her sister Martha, wife of John WALPOLE, was childless, Hannah had passed her daughter Elizabeth, born. 1800 at the age of 2 years, , to Martha & John to raise and educate. Elizabeth became their heir. Hannah was one of the first victims of the cholera in Islington in 1832, and was buried in St Mary Magdalene Church yard. The burial register states that she was of Cloudesley Square. Are there any depictions of Cloudesley Square, say 1800-1880 please? When Martha WALPOLE died in 1840 aged 84, the register stated that her abode was Brooksby Street. Similarly I would be interested in any views of Brooksby street 1800-1880.THANK YOU.

green mail CLOVER/BOOMER (Sep 09 Green)
Arthur CLOVER married Emma BOOMER 10/3/1907 in Kensington. Their boys were born in Islington George H A (b 1911) Leonard W (born 1914) and William H (b 1921) - Would love to hear from you if you are related to this family!

red mail Richard William Carter, b1800s (Sep 09 Red)
I'm trying to find more about Richard William Carter and his ancestors. He married Sarah Josephine Blay in 1899 and I have the details of his children (Richard, Henry and Frederick). There are so many Richard Carters around that it is difficult to establish a definite link to a birth record (possibly b1851), or maybe a previous marriage as he described as a widower on the marriage certificate. His father was also Richard William Carter. So I have a chain of three Richard William Carter, son (b 1893), father (b abt 1850) and grandfather (b ?)!

green mail Mabel Violet Langley (Sep 09 Green)
Does anyone have any information on Mabel Violet Langley born c. 1890 in Islington to Edward and Annie, who were originally from Northumberland? Mabel was "indicated" in a divorce case in 1914 as having given birth to a child "on or around 6 October 1913" after having an affair with my great-grandfather, Joseph William George James Perry. Mabel is referred to as Violet in the divorce papers. Both she and Joseph (sometimes referred to as Harold) were actors. Any info on her or the fate of the child would be most welcome. Thanks
