Can anyone help me trace my Grandmother's brother. His name was Thomas?? I have a photograph taken 1924, Purvsholm,Gullane. After this date he went to America with his family. I have been told that he was a sheriff but do not know if he held that position in America or Scotland. Any information however remote would be welcomed

I'Anson Horseracing Family (Revised Jul 06 Red)
Wm. I'Anson brought two racehorses from Yorkshire to Barnton, then settled in Gullane for several years. He married Mary Inglis and his brother Robert married Margaret Inglis (sisters?). The family then moved back to Yorkshire, to Malton. However, there was another Wm.I'Anson and family there and in villages nearby -- I cannot fit the families together, despite the unusual surname.
